your views on religion :

I’ll start by saying I’ve been agnostic for seven years, but raised roman catholic.

I think 宮本 武蔵 said it best in his book of five rings, “respect the gods and buddhas, but do not depend on them.” it’s important to respect the beliefs and faiths of others, but in this case, I don’t find solace in them. being raised catholic, I’ve been baptized, I’ve prayed, I’ve gone to church, but I can’t say I’ve ever felt god. perhaps I’ve been looking in the wrong place, but I digress, I’ve never felt god.

that said, I feel religion doesn’t quite work for myself. I read a quote before along the lines of, an intelligent man doesn’t require the promise of heaven to do good deeds. I think I can still be a good person, and do good things, without the reliance of a god.

if religion works for you, then I one hundred percent support you. if it makes you a greater person, a person who shares their happiness with others, not judging but helping, than I respect that. if your religion causes you to look down upon others, than I can’t. I’ll respect your decision to follow in it, but I can’t say that I follow you.
